The BBC World Service has been named Best Network/Publisher at the 2026 British Podcast Awards, claiming the top organisational honour at the ceremony held on 1 October at the Indigo at the O2 in London. The win places the broadcaster ahead of competitors in a field recognised for its depth of investigative journalism and global storytelling.

The award highlights a portfolio that includes several other podium finishes for the corporation. Legend: The Bruce Springsteen Story took gold in the Arts & Culture category, while The House at Number 48 won gold in History. In the Impact category, Woman's Hour: SEND in the Spotlight also secured a gold award. The BBC's audio output continued its strong showing with silver medals for The Toxic Waste Scandal in Documentary and The Beast of Birkenhead in Impact, alongside bronze awards for Shadow World: Anatomy of a Cancellation and Postwar with David Runciman. Additional recognition went to Made in China, a BBC Sounds Audio Lab production that was highly commended in Documentary, and Radio 4's satirical series The Skewer, which received an honorary mention in Comedy.

Jon Zilkha, Controller of BBC World Service English, described the result as validation of the team's global reach and creative output. The broadcaster operates in 45 languages and reports a weekly audience of 502 million, making it the most trusted news provider globally according to recent reliability rankings. This latest accolade follows the World Service's consistent performance in audio metrics, reinforcing its position as a primary driver of the BBC's non-linear audio growth.
