CBeebies has confirmed the launch of Parenting Unscripted, a five-part documentary series debuting on its dedicated YouTube channel on Friday 9 October. The collection, which will also be available via BBC iPlayer, marks the first YouTube original produced specifically for the CBeebies Parenting digital hub, with new episodes releasing weekly.
The series presents unfiltered portraits of family life through the lens of five high-profile parents. Charlie Hedges, the BBC Radio 1 host, leads the opening episode, examining the pressure to parent perfectly and the difficulty of trusting her own instincts. Her documentary culminates in a special CBeebies Bedtime Story read alongside her daughter, a first for the network's long-running tradition. Subsequent episodes feature Leanne Quigley discussing the balance between protection and allowing children to take risks, while Krept addresses the complexities of co-parenting while managing a music career. Ollie Locke-Locke and his husband Gareth explore how parenthood impacts relationships, and Dani Dyer considers the nuances of gentle parenting approaches.
CBeebies commissioned the series to support parents and carers in their daily experiences, moving beyond traditional broadcast formats to meet audiences on digital platforms. Kate Morton, Senior Head of Commissioning for CBeebies, noted that the initiative is designed to help families feel seen during the complicated journey of raising children. The production sees CBeebies leveraging its flagship parenting brand to capture a specific digital audience, with Charlie Hedges's bedtime story slotting in on 2 October as a separate broadcast event prior to the main documentary release.
